BUSINESS NEWS - Eskort, the famous brand that has been supplying South Africans with top quality pork products for 107 years, has opened its very first shop in the Western Cape - right here in George at the Eden Meander Lifestyle Centre.
The official opening was on Thursday 21 November. It's the company's 28th shop in the country with three more to follow in other locations in the next few weeks.
The shop in Eden Meander (next to New Harvest) is a meat lover's dream and offers an extensive range of fresh and processed products, a takeaway meal section with freshly prepared pork-based meals such as burgers and eisbein, as well as salads. Freshly braaied meat is available from the outside braai kiosk at the front entrance.
The Eskort product range caters for the high- to low-spending customer. It also offers a variety of innovative products tailored to busy lifestyles, such as frozen meals and even platter packs for entertaining that you can pop in the air fryer.
Marcelle Pienaar, Eskort's marketing director, says pork is at the top of the list of meats being consumed by consumers worldwide, but in South Africa it ranks third.
"Yet pork is a third of the price of mutton, for example, and it's a versatile and tasty meat if you prepare it correctly. With most South Africans' budgets under pressure at the moment, pork also offers excellent value for money."
Food safety is a top priority at Eskort and it boasts an uncompromised record in this regard for over 100 years. It sources its meat from two farms that supply exclusively to Eskort and whose hygienic and health standards are top notch.
"Having our own outlets gives our customers access to the full Eskort range of processed, frozen and an interesting variety of fresh meat products that are not on supermarket shelves. We are really excited to be able to offer this now to the residents of the Garden Route," says Pienaar.
