GEORGE NEWS - Hope Church Parkdene launched successfully in Parkdene High School on Sunday 5 March with 366 people in attendance! Clifford Sheldon has been appointed as the full-time pastor by Paul and Marinette van Coller, senior pastors of the Hope Church family.
Clifford, born and raised in George, has experience and qualifications in life coaching, leadership development and project management. Clifford and his family have been part of Hope Church since 2016 and he has served as a small group leader in church since 2017.
This new church originally started as a community church in Hope Church's facility in Protea Park on 15 August 2021, but God had bigger plans! Their Sunday services outgrew their facility in just 18 months.
God made a way and Parkdene High School opened their hall that can seat around 600 people! The Hope Church family believes 2023 is their year to THRIVE, so they're excited that Hope Church Parkdene has lots of room for growth.
Their theme verse is from Psalm 92:13 that reads: "Planted in the house of the Lord, they thrive in the courts of our God".
Great excitement expressed about the launch:
• "The John Maxwell quote, 'Everything rises and falls on leadership', is so true! Because of Clifford and his wife, Emmerentia's great leadership, they were able to built a team of 85 committed and trained volunteers that we could launch with. Paul and I are so proud of our Hope Church Parkdene Launch Team!" - Pastor Marinette van Coller
• "We're incredibly grateful for our partnership with Parkdene High School who welcomed Hope Church with open arms. I have no doubt that, together, we're going to make a significant difference in the community of Parkdene."
• "I believe God is going to restore hope in the hearts of the community of Parkdene as we live out the vision and mission of Hope Church here." - Pastor Clifford Sheldon
• "There was a clear presence of God in the service and a sense that He has a big plan for Hope Church in Parkdene. I can already imagine three full morning services!" - Clive Africa, manager of Community Services, Garden Route Municipality

The Hope Church family in Zambia continues to grow from strength to strength under the Van Collers' leadership with over 10 000 people now attending on Sundays. To find out more about the work Hope Church is doing in Zambia, visit: www.thezambiaproject.org.
Hope Church is also expanding into America soon. Matt Mackie, who has been part of the Hope Church full-time team in Zambia for 13 years, and his wife Savannah who is American, have both been appointed by Paul and Marinette to launch Hope Church in Bentonville in the near future. Watch this space!
