BUSINESS NEWS - An exhilarating treasure hunt on Saturday 7 June saw the fifth and final 1/10oz gold Kruger Rand in the Mr K George Amazing Race campaign won on by father-daughter duo Johann and Kaylee van Gruting.
The participants consisted of those who qualified for the lucky draws in the preceding four weeks, but did not win a coin.
Pieter de Necker, manager of Mr K George, welcomed all of them.
A series of 17 clues would send them on a mad dash, criss-crossing the Outeniqua Lifestyle Centre. The first to arrive back at the Mr K store with the full set of clues in hand would walk away with the coveted 1/10oz gold Kruger Rand.
After an hour-and-a-half of running around the centre, participating in a range of in-store mini activations to earn those valuable clues, the Van Grutings were the first across the finish line.
The competition was fierce and the teams had worked up a good sweat, huffing and puffing by the time they completed the challenge.
Fortunately, a hearty spread of pre-treasure hunt snacks and cold refreshments ensured the participants were fully fuelled for the task at hand.
In the absence of her better half, Theo Meintjies, Mr K George's co-owner, Debbie Nieuwoudt, thanked all the participating centre tenants for being part of this fun, community-building initiative and for the energy they brought to the event.
In addition to the fun and festivities, the treasure hunt also secured exposure to participating stores and the centre as a whole.
