The group was divided into two teams and each team had to design a product and use the nine fundamental steps that are used in the design of a successful business model. The end of the course culminated in a presentation by each team to a panel of four judges.
The presentation was conducted in a similar vein to the popular TV programme Dragon's Den where entrepreneurs are afforded the opportunity to 'pitch' their product and business model to a panel who decides whether they would 'invest' in the business proposal being presented.
The teams spent a lot of time preparing for the presentation, but had a lot of fun while doing it. Each member of the winning team was presented with a 'gold' medal and their certificate of attendance. The runners-up were each presented with a 'silver' medal and a certificate of attendance.
The feedback has been exceptionally positive with delegates expressing the delight that the structure of the training was tangible and real - not only theoretical.
The next phase of the entrepreneur development project will include a monthly meeting where the delegates will regroup to discuss successes and challenges that they have experienced as well as a mentorship programme where experienced business people will assist the up and coming entrepreneurs.
The delegates with their certificates of attendance that they received during their five week entrepreneur and business model training initiated and presented by the George Business Chamber and TEN.
