GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - Wilderness artist and crafter Jenny Bischoff savours her life as a painter. "I love seeing the early morning sunlight dancing through the window, the gentle breeze riffling the edges of the curtain and the early morning call of the piet-my-vrou echoing through the pines and cedar - and then capturing this on canvas."
She studied graphic fine art at the Port Elizabeth Technikon. After moving to Johannesburg her work as a mural artist was in demand both for private homes and companies.
"This was followed by the awesome achievement of doing shopping centre displays. I loved spending days and nights preparing scenes, creating and displaying them. I found it very creative, very demanding, but a rewarding way to spend one's time.
"Now I am back in the area where I grew up, living with my husband Nick in the beautiful Wilderness Heights. The forests, mountains and rivers are waiting to be explored and painted."
Jenny has showed her work at local art exhibitions. She also has artwork on display at Fairy Knowe Hotel.
"My interests are fairly varied, covering forgotten cottages out in the wilds to a beach in the evening light, brooding in the glow of the setting sun. Always with just a touch of mystery or gentle calm," she says.
The ocean and its magnificent creatures fascinate Jenny.
Next time you are in the area, pop in at the Wilderness Hotel and take a look at her paintings arrayed upstairs. She is available to do commissions, including portraits or paintings of pets.
She can be contacted on 044 877 0920, or 072 631 5055 to discuss commissions.
