GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality is constructing a new reservoir in Pacaltsdorp West which includes the construction of tie-in connections in Beach Road.
This essential infrastructure needs to be constructed so to ensure water supply to the surrounding areas.
The project is expected to be completed by December 2025.
Beach Road lane closures:
To enable construction activities, one Beach Road Lane (in a southern direction) will be closed during construction activities at the North Street intersection.
Access is maintained but speed enforcement is required within and near the construction work areas and near the lane closure areas.
Closure starts from Monday, 17 November and is expected to remain in effect until mid-December.

Key impacts
- Traffic flow disruption: Reduced capacity: Closing one lane (in a southern direction) cuts available road space, leading to slower movement. Increased travel time: Vehicles are funneled into fewer lanes, causing delays, especially during peak hours.
- Safety risks: Worker safety concerns: Road workers are exposed to higher risks due to proximity to moving traffic.
- Detour challenges: Limited rerouting options: Alternative routes may be congested or unavailable.
