ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - The Winter Wonderland Exhibition of the South Cape Association for Visual Arts (Scava) opened in the George Museum on Friday 24 April, celebrating artists of the Garden Route and Little Karoo.
The exhibition celebrates the season of winter and the unique way in which artists interpret its quiet beauty.
As winter settles in with cooler air and gentle rains, the exhibition invites visitors to slow down and experience their surroundings with fresh perspec-tive. This year's exhibition showcases a beautifully curated collection of 190 artworks by 54 artists.
René Scribante, Scava's chairperson, said winters offer rich creative potential for artists and inspire deeper reflection and expres-sion.
"The works on display remind the viewers that winter is far from colourless or lifeless; instead, it is a season filled with emotion, nuance and quiet wonder."
The dedicated Scava committee was responsible for organising the evening, and Ian Tainon helped Scribante with the exhibition's curation. The exhi-bition can be viewed in the Sayers Auditorium until 18 June.
Scribante said Scava's aim is to create platforms on which the region's artists and the community can connect, where local talent is nurtured and an inclusive arts community is grown. "We bring visual art closer to the public in accessible and inspiring ways.
"We are a growing association, as many younger members are joining and bringing fresh energy and perspective. This strengthens the association, and we are looking forward to presenting many more exhibitions."
