GEORGE NEWS - September is Heritage Month and Business Café is inviting Georgians to a lunch on Thursday 12 September to celebrate our local heritage around traditional foods that the guests themselves will bring.
"Guests will be introduced to various heritage narratives followed by sharing in our diversity of food. To attend, you preferably need to dress or partly dress in your traditional wear and bring a traditional meal for 4 people to share with everyone if possible.
"Experience our heritage of ubuntu, Sida UI [Khoisan phrase meaning 'we care'], barakat, open house, and compassion," invites Dr Dennis Farrell from Business Café.
"It is important that we start getting to know our heritage and what better way to get people talking than to bring them together around food. We do not know one another and I hope this will be a way to get us going - by learning more of one another's culture."
Various people will each give a short explanation of what their culture entails.
Farrell says this will hopefully be the start of further social interactions in the future where interested people from different cultures can get together.
Guests are kindly requested to bring their own cutlery, crockery and a blessing container for takeaways. The celebration will start at 12:00 and conclude at 14:00.
Confirmation of attendance is essential due to venue limitation. RSVP to Wilma via WhatsApp or call her on 067 711 9805 by 5 September.
The venue is to be confirmed.
