GEORGE NEWS - A treat lies in wait for organ music lovers on Friday evening, 10 August. The renowned Hungarian organist László Almásy will be giving an organ recital at 19:00 at the Dutch Reformed Mother Church.
Georgians will remember Almásy's excellent playing from his previous concert here in 2015, when he was touring South Africa.
László Attila Almásy was born in Budapest and studied music at the Béla Bartók Music School. At the age of 18 he won first prize at the Hungarian National Piano Competition for Music Schools. In 1987 he finished his studies in organ at the Frans Liszt Music Academy in Budapest.
He has performed as soloist and ensemble member in more than thirty countries, and worked with well known conductors like Kobayashi and Antal Doráti. Almásy taught organ and piano at the Béla Bartók Music School for 25 years, and at present he is employed as organist at two churches in Budapest, as well as teaching piano at a school in a neighbouring town.
