GEORGE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - The Wilderness Art Association welcomes more than 80 South African artists to the Wilderness Art Festival from today till Saturday, 27 to 29 February.
The event takes place at three main venues, Wilderness Hotel, Palms Garden Square and Milkwood Village, with restaurants also playing an active part in ensuring your time spent in the quaint village is highly entertaining.
Expect live music, workshops, demos and much, much more.
Come listen to Marliza van den Berg and Riana Scheepers talk about Art from Ashes in the Palm 1 conference room at the Wilderness Hotel on Thursday at 12:00. This discussion centres on art used as a healing tool from trauma, especially by those who suffered and lost so much in the 2017 Knysna fires and in 2018 in Wilderness. The theme will be displayed with art that has been inspired by this trauma the community suffered, together with a poem, Farleigh, written by Scheepers.
The festival will be officially launched at 18:00 tonight, with live music and a light buffet at the Wilderness Hotel, as well as an 20:00 performance by local fire dancer, Connor Derfoldy, on the Wilderness Common.
On Friday 28 February, the main event is the Night of 1000 Drawings at the Wilderness Hotel pool area. The Wilderness, Hoekwil and George communities have collected over 1 200 A5 paintings, drawings and doodles for this charity event. The artworks will be sold at R100 each to raise funds for the Seven Passes Initiative.
Come buy a doodle and support a child!
The Freedom Feathers Fashion Show at 15:00 on Saturday 29 February will dazzle guests while the chocolate, art and wine pairing at 16:30 at the Wilderness Hotel pool area will delight all your senses.
Don't miss the body marbling at Palms Garden Square on Saturday 29 February at 10:00.
Milkwood Village will be hosting plenty of arts and crafts with live music and party vibe throughout the weekend.
The weekend promises to be an explosion of art!
