GEORGE NEWS - On Friday 1 November the Wilderness Art Association (WAA) set up in Palms Garden Square to actively doodle for the day and encourage members of the public to participate.
The doodle day was part of a drive to collect funds for the Seven Passes Initiative in Touwsranten, which supports and improves youth education and opportunities in Touwsranten and the rural area surrounding Hoekwil to prevent violence in the community.
All doodles that were dropped into the box on Friday were entered into a lucky draw to win a bottle of wine labelled "I Gave a Doodle!". This special bottle of wine was won by Verdricka van Wyngaardt. WAA chairperson Carole Durrant said the over 50 drawings that were collected will be added to the almost 400 A5 drawings they already had.
An event, Night of 1 000 Drawings, will be held on 28 February 2020 and all proceeds from sales will be donated to the Seven Passes Initiative. The event forms part of the Wilderness Art Festival 2020, which will take place on 27, 28, and 29 February.
Night of 1000 Drawings dropboxes are available at Cabesa Gallery in Palms Garden Square and The Little Art Shop in the Paddagat shopping centre, Courtenay Street, George. Come and give a doodle!
