GEORGE NEWS - Peace Train to a Wild World is a nostalgic, memorable tribute to Nobel Peace prizewinner, megastar and multi-instrumentalist, Yusuf / Cat Stevens.
Performed by the South African Cat Stevens band, the show will feature at the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre on Thursday 22 February.
It highlights Stevens's haunting melodies and soulful lyrics. It also gives a glimpse into the life of one of the world's greatest folk-rock artists, from birth to current status as converted Muslim and humanitarian.
The tribute features Werner Carstens (lead guitar, mandolin, and backing vocals), Craig Stott, who has received standing ovations for his renditions of Cat Stevens's hits (acoustic guitar and lead vocals), Charl Strutt (bass) and Gavin Young (drums). The group has enjoyed sold-out performances at various theatres and theatre supper venues in and around Cape Town and upcountry.
Tickets are available at the George Arts Theatre office in York Street or online at www.georgeartstheatre.co.za.
Tickets are R150 per person and R130 for members and pensioners. The show starts at 19:30.
