GEORGE NEWS - Carpe Musicam!, George’s own community music organisation, has been delighting Garden Route audiences with high-quality concerts for a decade.
To celebrate its 10th birthday, Carpe Musicam! is hosting a special concert series in George, Sedgefield, and Mossel Bay.
Their Mossel Bay gala concert sold out by February, but tickets are still available for the George concert on Friday 18 July at 19:00 at the Outeniqua High School Hall and the Sedgefield concert on Sunday 20 July at 15:30 at the NGK/DRC Hall, Hoopoe Street.
Each concert will feature 10 of Carpe Musicam!’s greatest hits from the last 10 years, including favourites like Pirates of the Caribbean, Phantom of the Opera, Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina, and a beautiful South African folksong suite.
Carpe Musicam! boasts an orchestra of over 60 musicians, a choir of 40+ voices, a wind band of 22 players, and various smaller ensembles.
In 10 years, they’ve performed more than 500 specially arranged pieces, catering to all ages and skill levels.
To add flair, the Carpe Musicam! Jazz Quartet will entertain audiences with a half-hour pre-concert performance. Refreshments will be on sale an hour before the George and Sedgefield shows.
Tickets cost R150 for adults and R50 for pupils, available online at www.carpemusicam.co.za.
