GEORGE NEWS - The Western Tigers Football Club claimed a 5-3 victory over Heaven Stars in a Geolfa League fixture on Saturday afternoon, 22 June at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Mesuli Vuba (hat trick), Lukhanyo Msitshana and Moses Lingani netted the five goals for Western Tigers.
Mihlali Dyantyi, Lukhanyo Mnyaka and Ndimphiwe Ntame scored the three goals for Heaven Stars. Both teams are fighting their way up to reach the top eight positions on the domestic league table.
A determined Western Tigers team maintained the pressure from the get go, with Heaven Stars having their hands full to defend.
Moses Lingani of Western Tigers opened the score, followed by Mesuli Vuba, who broke through the Heaven Stars backline to score the second goal, making it 2-0.
Heaven Stars kept trying to push forward and their first goal was scored by Mihlali Dyantyi after excellent work from the centre of the field.
Both teams picked up speed in the second half, ending the game on a high. Western Tigers added three more goals to their tally, while the hard-working Heaven Stars team fought right up to the end. Mesuli Vuba netted the third goal for Western Tigers, followed by their fourth goal from Lukhanyo Msitshana, making it 4-1.
Lukhanyo Mnyaka scored the second goal for the Stars making it 4-2 after excellent work from the centre. In reply Vuba scored his third goal, extending their advantage to 5-2, but Heaven Stars still had something up their sleeve. Ndimphiwe Ntame managed to squeeze in a third goal for Heaven Stars, finalising the score on 5-3.
