GEORGE NEWS - Athletics South Western Districts (ASWD) hosted its Talent Identification (ID) and Masters Championships at the Rosemoor athletics track on 2 and 3 October, attracting athletes from several provinces.
Athletes from Boland, Eastern Cape, Gauteng and the Western Cape competed across a range of track and field events.
The weather changed considerably on the second day, and soaking rain made the conditions less comfortable for the spectators. The cooler, wet weather, however, proved well suited to the longer-distance events.

Despite the rain, the athletes delivered strong performances, with good times, distances and heights recorded across the disciplines.
It was the first time ASWD hosted the event at the Rosemoor athletics track, where athletes competed using the organisation’s new athletics equipment.

The championships also saw ASWD make use of its new TimeTronics electronic timing system.
The event allowed the athletes to test their form and abilities against competitors from other regions, while ASWD was able to put its new equipment and electronic timing system to use during the two-day competition.
