This follows their arrest on Friday when members of the DPCI (HAWKS) Organised Crime Unit in George, Attakwa K-9 (Dog Unit Oudtshoorn) and the Eden Cluster Hi-Way patrol conducted a vehicle checkpoint on the N9 between Uniondale and Willowmore.
The officers pulled over the 10-ton Hyno truck the suspects were travelling in and discovered 85 bags filled with dagga on the freight inside a false compartment.
The dagga, weighing 1.8 ton is estimated at a street value of approximately R2.6 million. Both the Hyno truck and dagga were confiscated as evidence. Both men were detained at the Uniondale police holding cells.
