The two three-year-old German Shepherds were poisoned and killed by unknown suspects who fed them sausages laced with poison. The purpose of this callous act was to steal the owner’s car which was parked in the yard. “On Thursday morning, 16 June we woke to opened gates and found the one dog lying in the yard while the other died at the front door. It’s devastating because they were my babies. The people who did this are savages, if they wanted the car they could have taken it without killing my dogs,” said the owner.
The death of the dogs has brought sadness into their home as they were an important addition to the family. “These dogs were my protectors and my guardians. When I looked at them I felt safe and unconditional love. To have them ripped from my family’s lives in such a cruel manner is harsh.
Montclair SAPS communications officer, Lt Dereck Vijiam said an investigation is underway and DNA samples have been taken from the dogs. “Criminals did poison the dogs to get in the yard and steal the car which was found abandoned on the N2 Winklespruit turn-off on Thursday, 16 June,” he said.
