ROBERT SOBUKWE TOWN NEWS - A well-known security specialist and wildlife protector was tragically killed on Thursday morning after being attacked by a black rhinoceros during an anti-poaching operation at the Samara Karoo Reserve.
According to a joint statement issued by the reserve’s directors, Milk River Security and the family, Schoeman van Jaarsveld (58), director of the private security company, sustained fatal injuries at around 10:30 on Thursday, 23 April.
Van Jaarsveld and his team were conducting anti-poaching activities when the incident occurred. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene, where he was declared dead.
