On sale since 2014, the Sedona, like the Sorento, boasts minor cosmetic tweaks in the form of a revised front bumper, redesigned Tiger Nose grille, restyled headlights with new integrated daytime running LEDs, an updated rear bumper and new taillight clusters with LEDs on top-spec models.

In a move similar to the Sorento, Kia has cut the Sedona range to four models, with the previous SX being replaced by the EX+, while the slow-selling 3.3-litre V6 petrol has been dropped altogether.

Serving as the base model, the EX offers the option of seven or, buy order, eleven-seats with features consisting out of a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Apple CarPla and Android Auto, grey fabric upholstery, 17-inch alloy wheels, reverse camera, auto on/off headlights, heated and electric mirrors, a six-speaker sound system, front and rear electric windows, a rear USB port and rear Park Distance Control.

Moving one up, the EX+ swaps the seven-inch display for an eight-inch setup with satellite navigation, and further receives dual-zone climate control, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror, cooled glove box, front Park Distance Control, wireless smartphone charger, front fog lights and a leather finished steering wheel and gear knob. Unlike the EX, the EX+ is only available with seven seats.

At the sharp end, the seven seat only SXL gains push buttons start, Blind Spot Detection, an eight-speaker sound system, dual sunroof, auto-levelling LED headlights, dual sliding electric doors, electrically adjustable front seats and rear seat warmers.

With the petrol option falling away, motivation for the Grand Sedona comes solely from the 2.2-litre CRDI turbodiesel that produces 147kW/440Nm, but which is now mated to a new eight-speed automatic gearbox claimed to have 143 newly patented technologies. Top speed is rated at 190km/h with Kia claiming a 0-100km/h sprint of 13.6 seconds.

A five year/unlimited km warranty and five year/100 000km service plan is standard on all models.
