Based on the newly introduced S6 trim level that slots-in between the single cab only S4 and the top-spec double cab S10, the Karoo’s standard spec level consists of electric windows all around, a USB compatible sound system, front fog lights, colour coded door handles and mirrors, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD, while its exterior additions are made of a tow bar, special Karoo decals, a tonneau cover, roll bar and nudge bar, rain deflectors, side steps and black alloy wheels.
Available in either two-or-four-wheel drive, the Karoo, and the S6, are otherwise carried over from the standard Pik-Up, with the 2.2-litre mHawk turbodiesel engine producing 103kW/320Nm teamed to a six-speed manual gearbox. Like the S10, the S6 and Karoo have a rated payload of 1 095kg and a ground clearance of 210mm.
Despite the Karoo’s exterior additions, worth a claimed R28 000, pricing remains unchanged from the S6, with the two-wheel drive retailing from R299 999 and the four-wheel drive from R329 999. Standard on both are a four year/120 000km and five year/90 000km service plan.
