1: Mercedes-Benz wine stoppers
For a man with a taste for fine wine, having luxury wine stoppers is a must, and Mercedes-Benz has the answer. The set includes four stoppers, each one modelled after a different classic Mercedes-Benz gear shift knob, complete with a classy carrying case. There are four different colours with the set; red, rose, white and champagne, with each colour being made for a specific wine.
2: Six-Speed gear lever plunger
We kid you not, this is an actual thing and we love it. Okay, it’s not quite as fancy as the wine stoppers but it is unique. The company that makes it claims that if you stick it to the floor, it’s a great way to practice your shifts while sitting on the throne. Be ready for a rubbery throw though, this ain’t a Porsche.
3: The trusted coffee table book
It has been the gift of choice for many years. You can’t go wrong with a good old coffee table book. There are so many out there in just about every book store. They make for a great read and are full of stunning pictures bound to keep your dad busy for hours, while he sips on a cappuccino or tea, or whatever a dad might consume.
4: Advanced driving course
This is probably one of the best gifts on our list. We found that Mercedes-Benz and BMW offer a variety of different courses. Our favourite and what is likely to be you fathers too, is the track session. The main focus of this session is safety training at high speed. Your old man will be gradually assisted through each performance exercise, while achieving a significant amount of vehicle control at the highest level, enabling him to apply this skill and technique safely on the roads. This is the best way to experience how both driver and vehicle work in harmony in a high performance environment, while behind the wheel of an AMG and M Powered vehicle. Visit the Mercedes-AMG Driving Academy and BMW Driving Experience for pricing details.
5: Buy him a car
Okay, not a real one but how about a nice model car. Visit a hobby shop, pick out something that he would like. There is a wide range of model cars in all different scale sizes, they also range in price. Better yet buy him one that he needs to build himself. Remember, deep down your dad is still a little boy trapped in a big man’s body. Plus, the gift is from you, meaning that it will always hold a special place in his collection of automotive paraphernalia.
6: Take him for a drive
When last did you take your dad for a drive? Check out the web for local racing events in your area, get some tickets and go spend the day at the track with your him. Have a milkshake and just spend some quality time with your father.
7: Manly car gadgets- There is a website called Mantality that has a variety of cool motoring gifts for dads, take a few that we have seen for example. The Grippy Pad, a sticky pad that sits on the dashboard of your car and will hold things like your smartphone and keys. There is also a car power inverter, the 12V DC to 220V device provides a 5V USB port meaning that your dad can charge his gadget really quickly, on the go.
