GEORGE NEWS - A shortened, basic course for pastoral care workers in hospitals will be offered in George, starting on 11 April.
The pastoral care course will be run under the supervision of the non-profit organisation HospiVision (www.hospivision.org.za).
The course will take place on Wednesdays over 16 weeks, of which eight will be theory-based and eight practical. The hours will be from 09:00 to 12:30.
The course is obligatory for anyone who wants to be part of George Provincial Hospital's pastoral care team.
The training is also suitable for those who would like to provide pastoral support to sick people in their own congregations.
Dr Frederik Nel will present the course, which will take place at 31 Langenhoven Street (in the same building as Johan Sloet & Burger Attorneys).
Training is free, but a voluntary donation of R10 a session is asked for each of the eight theoretical sessions to cover the cost of the notes.
A maximum of six people will be accepted for the course. The notes will be available in English only.
For more information, phone Dr Frederik Nel on 044 873 2726 (office) or 083 254 7499, or e-mail him on admin@fnel.co.za.
