GEORGE NEWS - The 2020 Strawberry Festival, which was planned for 26 and 27 September, has been cancelled due to the lockdown.
Redberry Farm informed its partners and stall holders of their decision on Monday 11 May.
Chantelle Merry, festival coordinator, said the decision was in line with Government's ban of gatherings to slow down the spread of the virus.
"This decision was not made lightly, but the safety of all involved in the Strawberry Festival as well as our awesome festivalgoers is our greatest concern."
The festival attracts a few thousand visitors annually. It would have been the 15th issue this year.
"The festival team is looking at having the next Strawberry Festival on 2 and 3 October 2021, but this will be confirmed once things normalise," said Merry.
The trading hours of the farmstall at Redberry Farm have been shortened during the lockdown and it is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00.
