GEORGE NEWS - Monday 5 January was a traumatic start to the year for the occupants of three vehicles involved in an accident opposite the Four Brothers Farm on the R404 between the George Airport and Redberry Farm.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a Volkswagen Polo, sustained life-threatening injuries and required immediate medical attention, while two others were injured but stable.
A baby also sustained serious but not immediately life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident, which also involved a BMW SUV and a Toyota Quantum, could not be confirmed by the time of going to press.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Polo's driver had stopped and indicated a right turn into a driveway access when it was struck from behind by a vehicle whose driver failed to slow down and stop. The impact pushed the Polo into oncoming traffic, where it was hit on its side.
