GEORGE NEWS - Emergency services are continuing a search and rescue operation at Voëlklip after a vehicle went over a cliff at one of the lookout points during adverse weather conditions overnight.
According to information released by Southern Cape police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Chris Spies, police were alerted to a missing person case after a man from Great Brak River reportedly left his residence on Tuesday afternoon and failed to return home.
The man was officially reported missing at 23:00 on Tuesday evening, prompting authorities to launch a search for both the man and his vehicle.
The search led officials to the Voëlklip area, where emergency teams discovered that a vehicle had gone over a cliff. However, rescue operations were initially hampered by adverse weather conditions, which made access to the area impossible during the night.
