MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A good way to get your child interested in playing a musical instrument, is to take them to a live performance where youngsters their own age are making music.
Throw in a bit of family humour and a pinch of education about the various instruments and the package is bound to get them saying: “I want to play one of those!”
But, where does one find such a performance in Mossel Bay? Try the town hall on Sunday afternoon, 31 August, at 15:30 when the Carpe Musicam! Pops Band will be giving their Rock, Pop and Romance concert.
This is a 90-minute mix of marches, polkas, film themes, pop hits as well as unashamedly romantic items.
The band has members aged 11 to well into their 70s and includes all ability levels from near-virtuoso to almost beginner. With custom-created parts for each player’s skills-level, the result is a wonderfully rich, energetic, yet controlled sound that will get toes tapping and leave you wanting more.
This concert forms part of the Mossel Bay Arts Month. Specially priced tickets (adults R80 and scholars R20) are available online at www.carpemusicam.co.za or you can contact Elsabe Barkhuizen on WhatsApp at 073 857 2952.
