GEORGE NEWS - Mediclinic George and Geneva invites unvaccinated people to help save 1 000 lives by joining the #Save1000 initiative this coming Saturday, 28 August. The target is to vaccinate 1 000 people on the day.
It is going to be a lively affair with EdenFM also present to provide entertainment and keep listeners updated over the air as the Mediclinic team works towards the target.
Unvaccinated people are invited to participate in the drive that will be held at the Covid-19 vaccination centre at Mediclinic Geneva.
This centre provides on average 350 vaccines per day, but this Saturday, all hands will be on deck to administer almost three times this number of vaccines. "Anyone over 18 is welcome. We believe that vaccination is the main route to a future with more freedom and better health," says chief clinical officer of Mediclinic Southern Africa Dr Gerrit De Villiers.
Appointments and walk-ins will be accepted on Saturday, and people without medical aid will also be assisted. The centre will be operational from 08:00 to 18:00 and will be offering the Pfizer vaccine.
"Whether you are ready for your second dose, or are starting out with your first, all community members are welcome. Join us as a family, or join us as a group of friends who want to be able to safely braai together. Join us as a sports team who want to play together in a league. Let's make this a reason to celebrate our new future, where we can all be protected and healthy together," says De Villiers.
He says that, to reduce the cycle of Covid-19 waves, it is essential that all community members are vaccinated. "Vaccination protects individuals against becoming severely ill from the virus, as well as reducing the risk of death. This in turn reduces the pressure on healthcare facilities and slowing the spread of Covid-19 variants."

- Complete the quick and easy preparation questions for the vaccine here.
This will save time and allow the Mediclinic team to reach the #Save1 000 mark.
