GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality announced with heartfelt sadness the passing of one of its officials, Nomaphelo Lufundo, who died on Sunday 4 May.
Lufundo worked as a weighbridge operator clerk at the George transfer station and landfill site, where she served with quiet dedication and pride.
In a statement released earlier today, Ntobeko Mangqwengqwe, the municipality’s senior communications officer, said Lufundo was more than just a colleague.
“Her commitment to her work and her warm, collegial spirit will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of working alongside her.”
A memorial service will be held in her honour at Thembalethu Hall on Wednesday 14 May at 13:00. Her funeral will take place on Sunday 18 May. Further details will be shared with the community once finalised.
The acting municipal manager, Bevan Ellman, expressed the municipality’s sorrow and support, saying they are deeply saddened by Lufundo’s passing.
“On behalf of the municipality, we express our sincere condolences to the Lufundo family, her colleagues and loved ones. Nomaphelo’s contribution to our organisation will not be forgotten. May her soul rest in peace and may her family find strength and comfort during this difficult time.”
