GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Garden Route is forecast to remain relatively mild on Friday, 9 October, with high-level cloud and cloudy conditions developing along parts of the south coast later in the day.
According to the South African Weather Service’s regional forecast, conditions across the Western Cape will be fine and warm in most areas, although it will be cooler along the coast.
The extreme south-western parts will become partly cloudy during the morning, while cloud is expected along the south coast from late afternoon.
Light drizzle is possible over the Overberg during the evening.
Along the coast, moderate to fresh north-westerly winds are expected, becoming strong along the south-west coast during the morning. Winds will turn moderate to fresh south-westerly from the afternoon.
The ultraviolet B (UVB) sunburn index is forecast to be moderate.
Friday: Mild temperatures along the coast
Temperatures across the Garden Route will remain relatively cool on Friday, with George expected to reach around 18°C to 20°C. Knysna could reach approximately 22°C, while Mossel Bay and Plettenberg Bay are forecast to remain around 18°C to 20°C.
Conditions may vary between coastal towns.

Saturday: Dry weather expected
Saturday, 10 October, is expected to bring generally dry conditions to the Garden Route, with partly cloudy to clearer skies in places.
George and Plettenberg Bay are forecast to reach around 20°C, while Knysna could reach approximately 23°C. Mossel Bay may be cooler, with a forecast high of around 19°C.
Residents planning outdoor activities should prepare for cooler conditions along the coast, particularly where breezes persist.

Sunday: Temperatures rise inland
Sunday, 11 October, is expected to be warmer in several parts of the region, particularly inland.
Knysna could reach around 24°C, while George is forecast to reach approximately 22°C. Plettenberg Bay may reach around 20°C, while Mossel Bay could warm to approximately 22°C.
Further inland, Oudtshoorn is forecast to reach around 27°C, making it considerably warmer than the coastal towns.

The weekend outlook is generally favourable for outdoor activities, although residents and visitors should check updated forecasts before travelling, particularly if their plans involve exposed coastal areas.
With spring conditions continuing to vary between the coast and the interior, a light jacket may be useful for cooler mornings and evenings, while those heading inland should prepare for warmer daytime temperatures.
