GEORGE NEWS - A number of George Council’s opposition parties extended their hearty gratitude and appreciation to the foreign shop owners of Kekkel en Kraai in Lawaaikamp (Mr. Charles) and Direct Wholesalers (Mr. Imran) for their kind donations during the lockdown period.
“We went knocking on their doors seeking assistance for our food banks which was established as a mitigating intervention for the needy in the communities in and around George,” said ANC’s Langa Langa.
“A big thank you to the team that was able to put together donations of food to the tune of just shy of R100 000. We were able to feed our people in more than 41 kitchens in and around George for about a month now,” said Langa.
Members of the foreign Nationals interim committee and some members of the opposition parties.
Councillors Theresa Fortuin (Icosa) and Cecil Noble (DA) together with spaza shops owners and residents of New Dawn Park who have been running soup kitchens throughout lockdown. Fortuin and Noble thank the spaza owners for their much needed contributions.
Muhyadin murshid Ahmed Marwan and other spaza shop owners made much needed contributions for soup kirchens in New Dawn Park.
