Update
GEORGE NEWS - Talks between FlySafair and trade union Solidarity are continuing this morning after discussions yesterday regarding the ongoing labour dispute over wage increases for pilots and dissatisfaction with their work schedules could not be concluded due to time constraints.
According to the airline’s chief marketing officer, Kirby Gordon, the parties report positive progress under the guidance of the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
Pilots have been striking from the beginning of this week, but according to Gordon, about two-thirds have returned to duty.
"The airline's current schedule has been right-sized to ensure it remains sustainable with the available crew and FlySafair continues to operate a stable but reduced flight schedule."
At George Airport the only impact has been between George and Johannesburg, with one less flight offered per day.
“The parties continue to engage in good faith as they work through the complex details
of the matters at hand. We remain hopeful for a resolution soon,” said Gordon.
