GEORGE NEWS - Large parts of Wilderness have been experiencing very low water pressure or no water at all since Wednesday 19 November.
George Municipality’s civil engineering teams have been working on a major pipe burst, but the outages have already led to cancelled bookings at several guest houses in the area.
Work on the Wilderness supply line commenced again this morning after it was halted yesterday afternoon, Sunday 23 November, due to safety risks on the steep, wet slopes where the problem is located.
A temporary connection from the Akela Water reservoir has been established, and teams are currently installing the temporary pipeline. Completion is expected later today.
Technical teams are continuing investigations on the existing pipeline to locate the blockage on the main supply line. Work will continue until the obstruction is identified and removed.
