NATIONAL NEWS - The South African National Editors Forum (Sanef) has called on all journalists to dress in black and join this morning's picket outside the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), to show support for the suspended journalists expected to face disciplinary action today.
Special Assignment executive producer Busisiwe Ntuli, SAfm Current Affairs executive producer Krivani Pillay and senior investigative journalist Jacques Steenkamp were charged with “liaising with the media” without authorisation from their bosses.
It’s believed three more senior journalists have been charged with misconduct after writing a letter to SABC Chief Operations Officer Haludi Motsoeneng, voicing their concerns over censorship.
Civil organisations will picket outside the SABC's offices, both in Cape Town and Johannesburg this morning.
