GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality, in conjunction with the Western Cape department of human settlements, will host an open day on affordable housing on Saturday 23 February at the St Augustine Hall in Meade Street between 09:00 and 16:00.
The open day will serve to pre-screen candidates for mortgage finance with a financial institution of their choice; to create awareness of the initiation of the Social Rental Housing programme and to update the human settlements demand database.
Candidates will also be introduced to other departmental human settlement programmes and the Syferfontein Catalytic project and, where applicable, given more information about the Government Employee Housing Scheme. The affordable housing Flisp (Finance Linked Individual Subsidy Programme) typologies and drawings will also be displayed and discussed.
The open day is aimed at households with incomes ranging between R3 501 and R22 000 per month. Financial institutions will set up stalls to market their products and pre-screen (where possible), thus enabling the community to make informed decisions.
More information will follow over the course of the next few weeks.
