GEORGE NEWS - George police opened an inquest after the body of a 65-year-old man was retrieved from the water at Voëlklip yesterday, Saturday 14 January.
“On the same day the police received a missing person report of a man from Mossel Bay, who might be in the vicinity of Herold’s Bay at about 05:45 in the morning,” said Southern Cape Police Spokesperson Sgt Chris Spies.
“A search and rescue team, consisting of police divers, EMS search and rescue, George Fire Department, Forensic pathology and George police, was immediately assembled and dispatched to the scene.
"On arrival police found the vehicle of the man parked at Voëlklip and they later spotted a body in the water. NSRI retrieved the body and brought it to the shore where medical personnel declared the man dead.”
“The man was later identified by his next of kin as the person reported as missing earlier. Circumstances surrounding this incident is under investigation. No foul play is suspected.”
