GEORGE NEWS - Christmas is a time of giving without a thought of getting. So Miss Planet International, Monique Best, took time out of her busy schedule over the festive season to visit the George Hospital children's ward with the Lions, where she also spent time in the premature baby unit.
She handed out colouring books and much-needed disposable nappies.
Best says Christmas is a time to give and rejoice. "The true meaning and gift for me as Miss Planet International 2019 is to cheer children up and make them smile. Being kind to others in need and to those who are alone.
"It gives me great pleasure to make a difference."
She has a message for the new year: "The unknown is filled with new beginnings, excitement and adventure, so grab it with both hands and make the best of it". She says life has taught her many things in 2019.
"The loss of a loved one is very painful and that spot in your heart will never be replaced."
Best says the past year has definitely shaped and moulded her and she is thankful for every opportunity that came her way.
