GEORGE POLITICAL NEWS - Local social development activist, Hein Scheepers (29), has been selected as one of five youth ambassadors from the Western Cape to participate in the National Youth Resilience Initiative (NYRI) network.
Nationally 350 applications were received.
Scheepers, also the local spokesperson for the EFF, has a long track record in various NGOs, development activities and social and youth organisations. As a youth ambassador he will play a part in identifying and acting on the needs of the local youth community, amplifying their voices.
Scheepers is currently being trained and mentored through virtual and in-person workshops to enhance his skills that will assist him to be a voice for the community and a force for change.
Scheepers, who was a star student at George High, has a huge collection of books and is a passionate reader covering a wide variety of topics.
Scheepers welcomed his accep-tance to the network as new skills enable him to broaden his positive impact.
"This opportunity will contribute to my skill set as a community development practitioner and public relations consultant. It will give merit to my specialisation as an NGO sector expert, the sector that I have been training and working in for over 10 years."
His achievement will further grassroots upliftment and the socioeconomic development of George and its youth in the coming years.
