GEORGE NEWS - George police arrested three people from Blanco after a video of an alleged assault in a car went viral on social media earlier this week.
In the video, that started circulating on Facebook and WhatsApp on Tuesday 12 January, a woman is seen assaulting another in the back of a moving vehicle with a knife while pulling the victim's hair.
The assault stems from an alleged love affair between the victim and her attacker's husband. However, other sources who have spoken to George Herald, deny any allegations of the victim having an affair with said husband. In the video the victim can be heard pertinently denying allegations of the alleged affair.
“On Thursday 14 January, George detectives arrested three suspects aged between 26 and 47 in connection with the video that went viral, depicting a woman being assaulted by a another woman in the back of a car,” Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, confirmed.
According to Pojie it is believed that the victim (46) was picked up from her place of work in the Geelhoutboom area under false pretences on Monday 4 January between 15:30 and 16:00.
“When she got into the car the suspect and her daughter allegedly confronted her and started to assault her with a knife whilst the car was in motion. The victim sustained stab wounds to her arm, leg and shoulder,” Pojie said.
The trio is scheduled to appear in the George Magistrate’s Court on charges of kidnapping and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm on Monday 18 January.
