The Queen for a Day initiative is a national project of the foundation and designed to lift the spirits of these little girls. The aim of the day is to show them that they are special and beautiful no matter what illness they suffer from or how the illness or medication affects their appearance.
Last week some excited girls from the Reach for a Dream Foundation entered a venue that the staff of King George Protea Hotel had transformed into an explosion of pink and lime with the most beautiful castle cake specially made for them by the head chef Conrad Jonck.
Pampering stations were set up to transform these brave little girls into the most beautiful queens. Gentle kisses of fairy dust on the tiny cheeks added the final touch.
There were giggles and sighs galore as they created little beaded bracelets, but the girls just could not wait to tuck into the feast that was prepared for them with so much thought and detail by the staff at King George Protea Hotel.
Miss Modelling SA, Ronette Coetzee, had a special message for the girls about how special they are and that she also needs to be brave and fight her fear of performing in front of a crowd.
After crowning each girl as Queen for a Day, Lizel Zeelie and Caryn Lebehr from the hotel presented the beautiful little queens each with a lovely box of goodies as a parting gift.
Reach for a Dream thanks the wonderful staff at the King George Protea Hotel for their warmth, generosity and time to create a beautiful day for these brave little girls.
