After a mass ride from the Pick n Pay George parking area, the bikers visited the SPCA’s premises in Tamsui Industria to attend an open day. They were taken on a tour of the facilities.
The bikers donated money, cat and dog food as well as blankets.
The SPCA had information stalls at the Pick n Pay parking area and at the open day which displayed the varied activities and
services of the SPCA.
Heather Baker, an SPCA volunteer and organiser of the event, was pleased with the success of the event. "Lynn Schroeder BMW approached us with the idea of a motorbike run and asked if we would be interested in organising such an event to raise funds," said Baker.
BMW also sponsored food for the food stall and energy drinks that were sold to the bikers and other visitors at the open day. They also donated a gazebo to the SPCA. Protea Hotel donated muffins and coffee which were also sold to raise funds.
Baker thanked Gavin Smit for the crate of tinned dog food he donated, Lynne Hill from Lynn Schroeder for all her help in organising the event, George Tyropolis, owner of DF Scott, for donating the cool drinks, Bryon and Aletta Simons, owners of George National Fresh Produce Market for donating the apples, Daleen from Cha-racters, the owners of Pick n Pay as well as local traffic department for helping them make this event a success.
