OUDTSHOORN NEWS - A lengthy investigation into the illicit drug trade in Oudtshoorn has paid off with the sentencing of convicted drug dealer Domaine Brown (34) in the Oudtshoorn Regional Court.
Brown was arrested during a sting operation on 25 September 2024 when members of the Western Cape Provincial Organised Crime Investigations (Narcotics) units from George and Oudtshoorn executed a planned takedown at a property in Bridgeton.
During the operation officers seized 350 mandrax tablets and four bags of tik with an estimated street value of R21 000. Three suspects were arrested on charges of dealing in drugs.
Brown was convicted on 3 December and sentenced on Wednesday 10 December to eight years' imprisonment, with two years suspended for five years. His co-accused remain in custody and their trial is ongoing.
Police say the conviction forms part of their continued efforts to curb the flow and distribution of drugs in local communities.
