GEORGE NEWS - DO YOU…..
Feel stressed?
Lack energy and vitality?
Suffer from pain and discomfort?
There is an answer to the challenging times we live in: Body Stress Release. If you feel stressed, lack energy and vitality or suffer from pain and discomfort, Body Stress Release can bring relief. It promotes freedom from body stress and can improve your quality of life.
Each time stress overload occurs, whatever the cause, the tension locks into the body. This reduces its efficiency and ability to cope with further stresses.
Each time the body fails to adapt, more body stress is stored and the body enters a protective state which can lead to a process of degeneration, with increased vulnerability to illness.
The American Medical Association has estimated that 80% of disease can be ascribed to mental stress. If we add mechanical and chemical stress to the equation, the percentage would surely be higher.
What is body stress?
Every day we are exposed to different types of stress:
- Mechanical - such as injury, physical strain or bad posture
- Chemical - such as air pollution, additives and colourants in food, and harmful chemicals in everyday products
- Mental or emotional stress
When our bodies are overloaded, the muscles go into a protective state, locking in muscle tension and creating "body stress". Tension in the muscles may lead to a build-up of pressure, which could irritate your nerves, which disturbs your body's communication system.
This reduces the efficiency of your body's natural self-healing ability and may lead to pain, stiffness, postural distortion, numbness and cramping, backache, neck pain, headaches and sciatica, among many other negative effects of stress overload.

How does Body Stress Release help?
It offers a gentle and effective way to help your body release tension from the muscles. While you are lying down, fully clothed, your practitioner does a series of light pressure tests to determine where the stored tension is.
Then, by applying a gentle and precise pressure to the affected areas, your body is encouraged to "release" the tension. As the tension is released, the body's inbuilt ability to maintain and heal itself is stimulated.
It is for everyone - from infants to the elderly, and feedback from clients has been consistently positive over the years.
It is important to note that Body Stress Release is not a diagnosis or treatment for any specific condition. It simply assists with locating and releasing stored tension from the muscles, thus assisting the body to heal itself
The Body Stress Release Association of South Africa was established in 1987 and it regulates the profession in South Africa. Practitioners need to attend annual continuing education workshops to keep their qualification current. Only registered practitioners may practice Body Stress Release, using the iconic logo.
It is interesting to note that Body Stress Release is a proudly South African technique. The Body Stress Release Academy is based in Rondevlei near Wilderness and has trained over 600 practitioners over the last 35 years, and it is practised in at least 20 countries around the world.
