GEORGE BUSINESS NEWS - On 20 May a ground-breaking ceremony on the land between the King George Protea Hotel and the Outeniqua Park rugby stadium in George was attended by representatives from the community including the mayor of George, Leon van Wyk, and representatives from the developer, Power Group.
The ceremony marked the start of construction for a new housing development, The Village Ridge.
With 60% of the development earmarked for first-time home buyers with a government house subsidy, a third of the properties in this upmarket area were sold within three weeks after being put on the market. These houses are available from R649 500 to R915 000.
The balance of the houses (40%) are open market properties with prices ranging from R1 175 000 to R1 800 000.
The developer calls on all interested parties to seize this opportunity to acquire their own homes. The Power Group has successfully completed more than 1 500 houses in this market.
The Power Group thanks the mayor and the municipality for their support in this enterprise, which is believed to be the first truly integrated development in the middle of town. Construction has begun with internal services to be completed by October.
The first houses are to be handed over during March/April 2022. This development further includes a crèche and three business opportunities for shops. It will also be on the existing Go George bus route.
