BUSINESS NEWS - Nina's Café and Soete Nina's, two separate entities belonging to the same owners, are over the moon to have been nominated in the Best of George Readers' Choice Awards 2025.
"It's everything to us," say owners Tasha and Wern van der Watt, "especially after nine years in the business. It's such a privilege to have been nominated!"
As the first to open nine years ago, Nina's Café was an instant hit among George customers. It is a busy daytime restaurant where the whole family can relax and enjoy and have good food. This is possible thanks to the amazing play area for children, which is a huge drawcard. Here, kids entertain themselves while mom takes a well-deserved break.
"We have a unique menu with hearty food," says Tasha. "We are always the first with a new concept. We never stop starting - that is our motto!"

In addition, it has also been nominated in the category Professional Services - Best Catering Company.
Together with offering competitive prices, Nina's Café delivers persistently good food, year after year. No wonder people keep coming back for more! What makes them stand out above the rest? "We love what we do and we cater for our local customers … have been since day one," says Tasha.
Soete Ninas opened a year and a half ago just across the road from Nina's - a small coffee shop specialising in sweet treats, along with a breakfast and lunch menu.
With a completely different offering, the two restaurants do not really compete with each other. "We bake artisan breads like ciabatta, sourdough and focaccia," says Tasha. "And we are quite famous for our delicious cakes."
Again, consistent quality is a key attraction for customers. Their amazing staff are passionate about what they do, so every cup of coffee, every plate of food and every slice of cake is made with love. "Our customers are our world and each and everyone of them is treated like a king," says Tasha. "Personalised hands-on service is what we strive for, along with the best coffee in town."
