GEORGE NEWS - A vibrant atmosphere, proud smiles and a strong sense of community marked Mountview Primary School's open days on Friday and Saturday, 8 and 9 May.
The event celebrated the school's growth, as well as the official unveiling of its newly upgraded sports and fitness area - a R300 000 investment aimed at promoting healthy, active lifestyles and creating greater opportunities for learners.
The special ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by Garden Route District Mayor Marais Kruger, will be remembered as a milestone moment for years to come.
The visitors enjoyed a lively programme featuring extramural exhibitions, sports activities, food stalls, vendors and family-friendly entertainment. The event gave the community a first-hand glimpse into the passion, vision and progress driving this rapidly expanding educational institution.
Rooted in a proud history dating back to 1962, Mountview Primary School continues to evolve to meet the needs of modern education. What began as a small nursery school in George has developed into a dynamic and nurturing learning environment focused on excellence, care and community values.
The school is currently growing one grade each year and will accommodate learners up to Grade 5 in 2027, and plans are already in place to continue expanding annually until offering Grade R to 7.
Principal Audrey Bouwer-Pienaar said the overwhelming support during the open day reflected the community's confidence in the school's future. "Mountview Primary is more than a school - it is a growing family committed to unlocking every child's potential," she said.
