BUSINESS NEWS - From humble beginnings to the Garden Route's most trusted e-bike experts, KK e-Bikes & Cycles has all the insider knowledge, not only of the e-bike scene, but of the South African terrain on which its customers can go adventuring.
With stores established in Hartenbos, Mossel Bay and an upcoming state-of-the-art concept store in George, KK e-Bikes has big plans to take the business to a national level, all while ensuring its customers here in the Garden Route are given the very best service.
Offering a variety of e-bikes, e-scooters and bicycles, the store has all the fittings and accessories for whatever you decide to purchase and a full workshop, too, where e-bikes and scooters are serviced.
There are also plans to open a spinning studio soon.
And what makes KK e-Bikes & Cycles the best in the Garden Route? One reason is the owner, Brenden Erasmus, and his team. Another is their expertise and products.
Driven by passion and innovation, fuelled by his customers' satisfaction, Erasmus started the business in 2021, at 21-years-old, with just two bicycles. Before he found his passion in the e-bike scene, he had been living at the old Mossel Bay backpackers' in Marsh Street, working as a waiter at a local restaurant and selling braais and pepper shakers at markets over the weekends to pay his rent.
One day, he was offered two bicycles that he could sell, but there was a catch: he would have to drive to Langebaan to fetch them. And he did, bringing them all the way back to Mossel Bay in the boot of his Honda vehicle. From there, he was able to get in touch with a supplier, and in late 2021, he received more.
Soon after, he was able to rent the old backpackers' as a store and use it as accommodation, with the two spaces divided by a curtain.
Fast-forward to 2026. KK e-Bikes now has three stores, and recently received a consignment of over 170 e-bikes.
Another recent and exciting development is the ParkRide, of which Erasmus is the CEO and director. Founded for roadies, mountain bikers, e-bikers and even kids on training wheels, it is a family event that takes place on the last Saturday of every month.
