GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality is upgrading the Thembalethu Sewage Pump Station Number 6, Ward 21, to ensure that there is sufficient capacity for both current and future demands.
The project involves extensive work, including the construction of concrete structures, a new pump station building, and the upgrading of all mechanical and electrical components of the pump station and is expected to be complete by November 2026.
Disruption of services
No disruption to services is anticipated. Advance notification will be sent out via social media should a scheduled service disruption be required.
The existing pump station is situated behind residential properties. No traffic delays are anticipated during the execution of the work.
Access to the site will be via Jonga Street and through the residential area to the northeast, and an increase in light and heavy vehicle activity is expected in this area throughout the construction period. Access to the site will be strictly controlled.
In accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, no member of the public will be permitted to enter the construction area.
