GEORGE NEWS - Updates on certain roads following multiple incidents involving fallen trees:
Open with traffic control:
- Outeniqua Pass – Open to traffic with a stop-and-go system in place.
Roads currently closed:
- George Road
- Road opposite Step-a-Side
- Camphersdrift Street
- Wright Street
- Moodie Street
- Sandy McGregor Road
Motorists travelling between Camphersdrift Street and Davidson Road are advised to use C.J. Langenhoven Road as an alternative route. Municipal teams are on site and working to clear the fallen trees and reopen the affected roads as soon as possible.
Residents are requested to report fallen trees as follows:
- If a tree has caused a road closure or poses an immediate threat to life or property, contact the George Fire Service on 044 801 6311 / 044 801 6300.
- For non-emergency fallen trees, contact Parks and Recreation on 044 802 2900.
