GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality advises the public that the following municipal roads are currently blocked by large fallen trees:
- Outeniqua Pass
- George Road
- Road opposite Step-a-side
- Camphersdrift Street
- Wright Street
- Moodie Street
- Sandy McGregor Road
- Davidson Road
Motorists who cannot use streets from Camphersdrift to Davidson Road are advised to use C.J. Langenhoven Road as an alternative route.
Please note that traffic is heavily congested, with queues currently extending through at least two traffic lights.
Municipal teams are on site and working to clear the fallen trees and reopen the affected roads as soon as possible.
Residents are requested to report fallen trees as follows:
If a tree has caused a road closure or poses an immediate threat to life or property, contact the George Fire Service on 044 801 6311 / 044 801 6300.
For non-emergency fallen trees, contact Parks and Recreation on 044 802 2900.
Please note that emergency incidents will be prioritised and response times for non-urgent cases may be delayed.
