GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - George Disaster and Fire Services continues to monitor the situation in Uniondale, Haarlem, Kamanassie, Avontuur and surrounding areas.
Several roads and farm areas remain inaccessible, particularly in more remote locations. While neither Uniondale nor Haarlem is completely cut off, road infrastructure damage has been identified.
Power outages
- Eskom power has been restored to Haarlem/Avontuur
- Eskom power again lost in Uniondale.
- Wilderness Heights repairs underway.
- Pacaltsdorp repairs will be undertaken as soon as team is available.
- Thembalethu - Zone 7, EC, CC and Edameni will remain off due to illegal leads having damaged electrical infrastructure. Repairs will commence Monday.
Water provision
- Uniondale - Water Treatment Plant operational. Reservoirs will replensih throughout the night.
- Western Bypass 1000mm diameter pipeline - team has isolated the network. Contractor is assisting George Municipality team on standby. ETR extended by another 4 hours. All areas should have water albeit at low water pressure.

George Fire and Disaster Services has maintained limited but functional communication with municipal officials in Uniondale and Haarlem, including Fire Services based in Uniondale.

Displaced residents
- 21 people from Rietvlei /Uniondale remain in the Lyonville Community Hall.

Residents requiring welfare checks on family members in Haarlem, Kamanassie or surrounding areas are encouraged to contact GRDM Disaster Management so that concerns can be escalated and addressed.
